BLUE BOLT followed up last month’s Prix Rothschild success in comfortable fashion to complete a Group 1 hat-trick, maintaining her unbeaten record this year. This likeable filly has now won eight of her 11 starts and has yet to be out of the first two since her debut outing last April. She’ll take plenty of beating if heading back to the Sun Chariot, for which she’s now odds-on in a bid to go one better than last year. She also has other options, including the Queen Elizabeth II at Ascot on Champions Day.

CHRISTMAS DAY had looked a thorough stayer when winning the Derby, an impression he also created in the Irish Derby and at York last time. It’s hard to believe he failed through lack of stamina, beaten too far out for that to be the case, and he was subsequently found to be lame on his right-hind.
